At the age of 8, Ed moved to nearby Kingston in the Annapolis Valley, famous for its apples. Ed and friends often "sampled" the fruits of the orchard as they rode by on their bikes. Ed became quite proficient at identifying the variety of different apples, and from that point onwards, no day was complete without him munching on an apple.
